God our Father, We invite you into our minds and hearts this morning in this hushed moment of praise and thanksgiving.
Your splendor shines for us from a manger in Bethlehem,
where the Light of the world was humbly born
into the darkness of human night.
Open our eyes to Christ’s presence in the shadows of our world,
so that we, like him, may become beacons of your justice,
and defenders of all for whom there is no room.
Lord, we know that there are the poor in spirit, the hungry, and the sick that need our help and love. Lord, please address their needs and help us to serve them.
We have people with sickness;
Heal and bless them.
Bring a surrounding presence and love to those in need, that they may feel your loving touch through the words and actions of families and friends who minister to them in their time of need.
Grant us peace worldwide. Protect our military. Give guidance to our leaders. Help us to sow love through our words and ministries. Walk with us every day, Lord. Help us to remain a free and Christian nation.
Help us to remember you as we pray the prayer you taught us to pray, saying

July 4th Prayer
Heavenly Father, on this holiday weekend we give thanks to you for the gift and blessing of the freedom we enjoy in our great nation. We praise and worship you, Lord, for guiding our founding fathers as they built our Christian nation and created a new way of living with the goal of freedom and justice for all.
Keep us faithful to the tradition and example we have inherited; may we leave for the next generation a better world, prepared for the dawning of the Kingdom of Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, forever and ever.
We seek to live as your disciples in this world of ours today, knowing that ours is an imperfect world and that we are imperfect people who live in it. Have mercy on us, and help us, O Lord, to always look to you for guidance. Help us to keep our sights set on Jesus Christ, the head of our faith, who called us to the life of faithful stewardship of the world and all our resources.
Lord, protect our soldiers, bless and enlighten our leaders, bless the Methodist Church and its leaders. Bless this congregation. Keep us all strong and loving as we travel through life. We pray today for all those families who have problems

Unison: The Lord’s Prayer
From Daily Devotions
I pray that you are devoting your heart to Him and stretching out your hands to Him, knowing that if you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent, then you will lift up your face without shame; you will stand firm and without fear. You will surely forget your trouble, recalling it only as waters gone by. Life will be brighter than noonday, and darkness will become like morning. You will be secure, because there is hope; you will look about you and take your rest in safety. You will lie down, with no one to make you afraid, and many will court your favor. Amen.” Job 11:13-19 I pray that you are devoting your heart to Him and stretching out your hands to Him, knowing that if you put away the sin that is in your hand and allow no evil to dwell in your tent, then you will lift up your face without shame; you will stand firm and without fear.
